ARCHIVED - Rain forecast this week in Murcia and October to bring more downpours
Some coastal areas in Murcia can expect rain this week before the clouds make way for a sunny weekend
September will say farewell to the Region of Murcia with yet more rain, after intense downpour caused flooding in many parts of the region just last week, and October is expected to bring even harsher weather, according to experts.
The first of the downpours is forecast for Thursday morning, September 30; between 50 and 75% chance of rain in the Vega del Segura and Campo de Cartagena areas, and the bad weather could extend to the early hours of Friday morning, October 1, although the north and north-west areas of Murcia can expect sunny weather with a few clouds.
On Saturday, Sunday and the beginning of next week, relative normality is forecast for the region, with sunny weather, very few clouds and temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees.
However, according to Meteored, the first half of October will see several Atlantic storms as well as DANA episodes (Isolated Depression at High Level), which are often accompanied by intense rain, and lower temperatures than normal. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise during the last fortnight of October, with more stable weather conditions.
These predictions have also been extended to other Spanish regions, including the Comunidad Valenciana, the Balearics, Catalunya and eastern Andalucía, with Meteored warning that these areas could be affected by ‘trombas de agua’, which is when a large amount of rainwater falls in a short period of time, causing destructive floods, such as the ones last week in Huelva (Andalucía).
