Red flags flying at Mediterranean beaches in La Manga del Mar Menor
Bathing in the sea is banned on August 4 at 6 beaches in the municipality of Cartagena
The abrupt change in the weather in much of the Region of Murcia during Thursday night and Friday morning has resulted in red “no bathing” flags being flown on August 4 at half a dozen beaches in the municipality of Cartagena.
The conditions are worst in the area of La Manga, with red flags flying in Calblanque, Playa Levante in Cabo de Palos and the Mediterranean shore of La Manga (the beaches of Barco Perdido (Entremares and Sirenas), Galúa and Monteblanco. At nearby Cala Reona the yellow flag is flying.
Meanwhile, in the remainder of the municipality the green flag is once again hoisted - in the Mar Menor, Cala Cortina, El Portús, Isla Plana and La Azohía. Even here, though, conditions have changed and the strong breeze is making the sea choppy and suggesting that Friday is not a good day for paddle boarding and other activities!
WHERE RED FLAGS ARE FLYING, DO NOT SWIM IN THE SEA!
At Murcia Today we do not wish to be reporting your disappearance in the Mediterranean this afternoon!
