Renewed hope for British tourist missing in Spain as police seek new witness
CCTV footage has emerged of the Scottish holidaymaker and another man on the night of his disappearance in Lanzarote

The Guardia Civil in Lanzarote have launched an appeal to locate the whereabouts of a man filmed walking with missing Scot Gary Watson on the night he disappeared. The 53-year-old vanished without a trace just hours after arriving in Puerto del Carmen to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on March 17.
He was last positively identified outside Bar 67 at around 11.30am and although a passerby claims to have seen him lying unconscious in a nearby doorway, this sighting hasn’t been confirmed.
Now, five months after his disappearance, CCTV footage has emerged that shows Gary and another, older man on Avenida Las Playas and Avenida Italia.
A Guardia Civil officer said in a statement: “We are interested in finding the person in the images as he had contact with Gary. They were filmed walking together on March 17 in the streets Avenida Las Playas and Avenida Italia in Puerto del Carmen. Any information we receive could be of interest.

Anyone with information about the mystery man has been asked to contact the Las Palmas investigators on (0034) 928 320400 (extensions, 1617063, 1617061) or via email: gc-cmd-palmasgrancanaria-pjpersonas@guardiacivil.org.
Gary’s frantic niece Darcie Shearer hopes that this could be the “breakthrough” her family has been hoping for all these months.
“We are still no further ahead since my uncle Gary first went missing, we hope it will lead to answers for us because we have been told so many times that there is no footage,” she added.
Gary was last seen wearing wearing a green and white Celtic football shirt, white shorts and white trainers.
