RM-515 road between Pliego and Alhama de Murcia to be closed on these dates in June
Vital road works are being carried out in Alhama de Murcia and should be completed before the summer

The Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia has announced the temporary closure of the RM-515 road, the access road to the towns of Gebas and El Berro, for maintenance and repairs. The thoroughfare will be shut to all traffic on Wednesday June 5 and Thursday June 6 between 7am and approximately 3pm.
The RM-515, which connects Pliego with Alhama de Murcia, is a vital artery that facilitates communication between the towns of Mula and Pliego with Alhama de Murcia and the Bajo Guadalentín region. In addition, it is one of the main accesses to Sierra Espuña.
These ongoing road works have been allocated a budget of 1,640,981 euros and should be completely finished by the beginning of the summer.
Each day, this stretch is travelled by around 1,602 vehicles and the current project includes resurfacing of 21 kilometres of road, installing more than 1,800 metres of safety barriers and erecting 384 new signposts.
The mayor of Alhama de Murcia, María Cánovas, has expressed her satisfaction with “the prompt conclusion of the works”, highlighting the importance of the RM-515 not only for regular traffic but also for tourism in Alhama and Sierra Espuña.
“In addition, special attention has been paid to the safety of cyclists, improving signage and adapting it to the sporting flow of the area. Thanks to the regional government for its work, for always responding to any requests from Alhama de Murcia.”
These improvement works seek to optimise traffic conditions and road quality, increase road safety and protect the road against heavy rain and possible landslides.
The Alhama de Murcia Town Hall thanks everyone for their understanding and patience during the road works.
