ARCHIVED - Rolling Stones will rock Spain as part of 60th Anniversary Summer 2022 European Tour
The iconic band's 'Sixty' tour will kick off at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain on June 1
To celebrate 60 years of rocking, the Rolling Stones are getting back on the road and have announced dates for their Summer 2022 European Tour which will debut in Madrid.
The iconic hit-making group will take to the stage at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid on June 1 before stopping off at other European cities, including London, Liverpool, Munich, Amsterdam, Vienna and Paris, wrapping up the series of gigs at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on July 31.
Now down to three members following the death of drummer Charlie Watts last August, aged 80, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have enlisted Steve Jordan as a replacement for the 10-show tour.
And, as one of the longest-running bands in the world and seasoned performers, the legendary rockers promise an electric opening in Madrid with "a massive stage, cutting edge lighting and state of the art video design".
In addition, to mark six decades in the music industry, the band has unveiled a new 'Sixty Tongue' logo to publicise the European tour which follows the Stones' highest-grossing US 'No Filter' stadium tour which sold more than 500,000 tickets in autumn 2021.
June's stop-off will be the band's first to Spain in eight years. Their last gig here was in 2014 at Real Madrid FC’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium as part of their On Fire Tour with Charlie on the drums.
Hardcore fans of Los Rolling, as they are known in Spain, will remember a legendary concert at the former CF Atlético de Madrid stadium in July 1982 when they performed through torrential rain, soaked through to the skin.
