San Javier celebrates 14 SICTED quality tourism awards
Hotels, restaurants and taxis were among the exemplary businesses honoured in San Javier this week
No fewer than fourteen businesses in San Javier have had the honour of renewing their SICTED (Integrated System of Tourist Quality Management) certifications this week and were awarded badges and plaques to symbolise their commitment to promoting quality tourism standards.
Representatives from the Tomás Maestre Marina, Poseidón Hotel and Spa, taxis, Bellavista Restaurant, La Obrera pension, José Antonio bakery, La Avioneta, El Marino hotel, La Jijonenca ice cream parlor, Apartamentos Pagán and Enrique Verdú Ice Cream Parlor all accepted this coveted recognition.
At the awards ceremony, Tourism Councillor Estíbaliz Masegosa praised the businesses' dedication to maintaining high-quality tourism services and underscored the significance of competitiveness in the industry. She assured municipal backing and cited San Javier's exemplary track record with eleven beaches, the Tourism Office and ten other facilities boasting "Q" and "S" badges, plus three Blue Flag awards.
The SICTED program, adopted by San Javier Town Council in 2016, engages businesses from accommodation, commerce, dining, leisure and transport sectors. Participants receive guidance, training, evaluation and certification, contributing to improved tourist satisfaction and economic growth in the area.
Mayor José Miguel Luengo thanked all the participants for their involvement with quality and their dedication to putting San Javier on the map as one of the best destinations for holidaymakers in the Region.
The general director of Competitiveness and Tourism Quality, Patricio Sánchez, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of the first impressions that a tourist receives when arriving in San Javier.
Demonstrating the council’s ongoing commitment to all of the businesses involved in the initiative, Sánchez invited attendees to share their needs and concerns for the future so that these can be addressed fully by the local government.
