ARCHIVED - San Javier freezes terrace tax for third consecutive year
A helping hand for the hospitality sector in San Javier, Murcia
San Javier Town Hall has promised to cover the cost of terrace tax for all bars and restaurants in the municipality for the duration of 2022.
This is the third time that the hospitality sector has been made exempt from the tax usually paid to place tables and chairs in external public spaces. Throughout 2020 and 2021, San Javier chose not to collect this payment in an effort to provide some economic reprieve for the sector, as bars and restaurants have been some of the worst affected businesses throughout the pandemic.
Other forms of help offered by the municipality include over 400,000 euros in grants and several publicity campaigns in support of the commerce and hospitality sectors, who have seen strict Covid restrictions for the better part of two years.
Cartagena council also made their hospitality sector exempt from terrace tax earlier this week.
