Science museum Granada: What to do in Granada capital city with kids
Entertain the children and enjoy a fun day out in central Granada learning about astronomy, animals and more
The Ciudad de las Ciencias (Science City) science museum in Granada, also known as the Parque de las Ciencias (Science Park), is just a short walk from the city centre and is an excellent alternative plan to entertain young and old when visiting this Andalucía city.
You could spend hours here and not get bored. It has an interactive museum where touching the exhibits and getting hands on is actively encouraged; a tropical butterfly house; an aquarium and zoo; an educational show featuring birds of prey in flight; and a planetarium.
Possibly the best part of the Granada Science Museum is the BioDomo, a tropical, self-contained zoo area that has fish, sharks, alligators and jellyfish, plus an area where you can walk through a rainforest-style environment with the toucans and monkeys flying and jumping around you, not behind glass.
The planetarium part, which is not recommended for children under 6, has a cinema-style room where you can look up at the stars and the planets, and learn lots about space.
The planetarium has to be booked in advance, as does a visit to the 'BioDomo', the zoo and aquarium room. Visiting both of these attractions cost a little extra on the ticket price as opposed to just visiting the museum and butterfly house and seeing the free birds of prey show. See the Parque de las Ciencias website for booking times for the BioDomo, planetarium and the birds of prey showtimes.
There is also a café/restaurant for snacks, coffees and lunches, and a large outdoor area with games for the children to play, a maze and other attractions.
The Parque de las Ciencias also has a tall tower that you can go up to get good views over the city of Granada.
