Scorching heat before the temperatures fall again: Spain weather forecast May 27-30
Changeable weather will return to much of Spain by the middle of the week accompanied by a drop in temperature
Weather outlook on Thursday May 30
With the exception of the extreme north of the country, summery weather has finally arrived in Spain over the last few days and the thermometers have exceeded the mid-30s in many areas. And while this pleasant spell will continue for a couple more days, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warns that change is afoot as we enter the last days of May.
Towards the end of the week, daytime temperatures will return to more spring-like values and unstable weather will once again dominate most of the country.
Before this, Monday May 27 promises to be mostly bright and sunny although widespread showers are once again forecast in large parts of Cantabria, Catalonia and Castellón.
Both daytime and night-time temperatures will continue their trend of recent days, with the mercury even rising by a degree or two along the coast of eastern Andalucía.
Settled weather is again expected in most of the country on Tuesday May 28, with only a light dusting of high clouds. However, it will be more overcast in the morning in the Mediterranean, and there’s a chance of light rainfall in the south of Valencia and in mountainous areas in general.
Temperatures will begin to climb in the northwest while falling in the Mediterranean and on the islands, but the thermometers could still reach 34ºC in the valleys of the southwest.
Daytime temperatures will again hover around the 30s in most of Spain on Wednesday May 29, although rain will also make an appearance in the north and the southeastern mountains could see the occasional storm.
Elsewhere it will be mostly bright and clear and large parts of Andalucía will see temperatures well into the high-30s.
Thursday May 30 is when the weather will begin to change and the hot days will give way to greater instability. Rain and storms could reach most parts of the country but Aemet expects “very cold air for the end of May” in northern Spain.
Day-time temperatures will shoot up again in the Balearic and Canary Islands and in the extreme south and southeast of the country but the mercury will fall elsewhere. It’s likely that large areas of southern Spain will exceed 30ºC while the thermometers will easily reach 35ºC and beyond in the Guadalquivir.
