Alicante is bracing for intense heat early in the week before cooler, cloudier skies arrive by Thursday

Weather alerts in Alicante on Monday July 21

Summer is in full swing along the Costa Blanca and this week looks set to bring a continuation of intense heat capped by a welcome dip in temperatures and cloudier skies. A yellow heat warning is already in place for Monday and Wednesday afternoons, when highs could touch 36°C, so expect scorching conditions early in the week that ease slightly as humidity builds.

By Thursday, thicker cloud cover and coastal breezes will make things more bearable.

Monday July 21

The week will begin with a relentless sun and soaring temperatures, with highs reaching around 35°C. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for extreme heat along the southern coast from 1pm to 9pm, with feels-like temperatures possibly peaking at 36°C. Overnight lows will remain warm at 25°C.

Tuesday July 22

Humidity steps in on Tuesday, making the day feel warmer than the mercury suggests. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs near 31°C and night-time temperatures around 24°C. A lighter day compared to Monday, but still noticeably warm.

Wednesday July 23

The yellow heat warning returns on Wednesday from 1pm to 9pm, with southern coastal areas again facing the risk of 36 °C heat. Clouds will begin to build in the afternoon, keeping humidity high. On the whole, temperatures are expected to hover around 32°C during the day and a very uncomfortable 26°C overnight.

Thursday July 24

A noticeable shift will arrive on Thursday as clouds gather and coastal breezes roll in. Highs will dip to a more comfortable 28°C and night-time temperatures should settle near 24°C. It’s still warm and humid, but far more manageable than earlier in the week.
