Scrub fire in Puerto de Mazarron this weekend
Hero firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it could become too serious
This Sunday evening, June 23, a fire broke out in the Port of Mazarrón, in the area next to the roundabout with the boat on the RM-332 but firefighters were able to handle the blaze fairly easily.
It was starting from 6.29pm when the Emergency Coordination Centre 112 Region of Murcia began to receive calls to the emergency number – more than 15 calls – alerting them of a forest fire in the area.
Immediately, firefighters as well as environmental agent, the forestry brigade and civil protection police were sent to the scene.
Thanks to their swift action, the flames were put out within half an hour before they could grow into anything bigger and more serious.
By 7.04pm, officials reported that the fire had been brought under control.
In all, 1,280m2 of land full of pine trees and gorse were burnt up in the small fire.
The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
