Spain braced for Storm Ciaran: Weather forecast October 30-November 2
Very strong winds, widespread rainfall and falling temperatures are expected this week
Get ready for a wet and windy week in Spain, as the country continues under the showers of Strom Celine, which has put a dozen provinces under a weather warning for heavy rain and high waves this Monday October 30, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Specifically, Huelva, Seville, Huesca, Navarra, Toledo, Badajoz and Cáceres will be at yellow risk for rain and Asturias, Cantabria, Lugo and Pontevedra will have the same level of warning active but for waves, which will also affect A Coruña with an orange risk.

Temperatures will fall across the board, except in the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean area and the northwest coast, where they will rise slightly. The maximum temperature will be in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where it will reach 28ºC on this day, and the minimum will be in Ávila and Teruel, with 4ºC.
On Tuesday 31, Halloween, the rain will subside in most of the country, but it will be short lived as on Wednesday November 1, the arrival of Storm Ciarán – recently named by the UK weather service – is expected to hit Spain.
From that day onwards, Aemet forecasts “very strong winds in large areas of the Peninsula, stormy weather in the north and almost generalised rainfall, except in the southeast”.
This new storm “promises to be much larger than Celine,” according to Meteored. During the day on Thursday November 2, Ciarán will leave plnetiful rainfall in many Spanish regions, although it is true that “everything points to the fact that overall the accumulated rainfall will not be as significant as [that] recently experienced”.
The wind and sea storms will be frightful, and there will be gusts of wind close to 100kmh in many parts of coastal Spain on Thursday and waves of up to 8 or 9 metres high are expected in the Atlantic and the Bay of Biscay.
Friday will be a day of respite, but it will not last long, because on Saturday “another similar squall could arrive in northwest Europe”, which will also affect Spain.
