Construction production is down in Spain during the third quarter
As the world appeared to be beating the fifth wave of coronavirus in recent months, the construction industry experienced a welcome rebound, with the sector increasing by 1.4% in the EU during the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year.
However, the latest Eurostat data shows that Spain is the country with the largest year-on-year drop in construction, suffering a decline of 11.2%.
Romania and Slovenia also suffered huge falls in the industry while Hungary and Poland experienced the highest growth in construction, increasing by 15.6% and 5.8% respectively.
Overall in both the EU and the euro zone, compared to the second quarter of this year, construction production has dropped by 1.7% after experiencing encouraging increases of 1.6% and 1.5% in April, May and June.
