ARCHIVED - Spain extends entry restrictions for UK travellers until November 15
Third country travellers will have to show proof of vaccination, a negative test or recovery from Covid to enter Spain
Travellers from non-EU countries including the United Kingdom have been dealt a disappointing blow as Spain has decided to extend its third country travel restrictions until November 15. This means that most Brits coming on holiday will need to show proof of vaccination, recovery from Covid or a negative test in order to enter the country.
Spain is the most popular tourist destination for Brits and the restrictions will add an extra hassle for families hoping to holiday during the October half-term break.
Back in May, Spain removed the ban on unvaccinated vacationers from third countries and a month later lifted all coronavirus travel restrictions for EU citizens, and the tourism industry has boomed as a result, reaching 85% of its pre-pandemic level. In July, bars and restaurants across the country reported a higher income than before the pandemic for the first time since the health crisis began.
What UK travellers need to enter Spain
- Passengers over the age of 12 must show proof of having two vaccinations plus a booster jab, a negative coronavirus test (an antigen test taken 24 hours prior to departure or a PCR 72 hours before) or a Covid recover cert. Spanish border police will accept the NHS Pass for this purpose.
- Children aged between 12 and 17 who have not yet had a booster must be able to show proof of having received two vaccines (or one of a single-dose vaccination). The second inoculation must have been administered at least 14 days before their visit to Spain.
