Spain weather forecast May 21-24: Wall-to-wall sunshine for most of the country
Only the northwest of Spain will miss out on the fine weather as temperatures continue to climb well above average for late May

Average temperatures expected on Sunday May 24
The run of good weather Spain has been enjoying this week is set to continue all weekend, with the State Meteorological Agency forecasting bright, mostly sunny skies and climbing temperatures for much of the country. The only exception will be the northwest of Spain, where an incoming front will result in some patchy rain and heavier cloud cover.
Thursday May 21

Stable weather with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies is expected across almost the entire country. Only in the north of the Balearic and Canary Islands, and along the coasts of Galicia, Cantabria and Catalonia, will there be intervals of low cloud that could produce mist or coastal fog.
In the afternoon, scattered clouds will develop over the mountains of central and northern Spain, with a chance of isolated showers.
Temperatures will rise across most of the country, hitting 34-36ºC in parts of Andalucia and areas of southwest.
Friday May 22

Friday’s outlook is very similar, with plenty of bright and sunny spells everywhere but the northwest, which can expect afternoon showers and the odd thunderstorm.
Temperatures will continue to climb across the board, reaching the mid-30s in many parts. Yellow weather alerts for heat have been activated in Asturias, Extremadura and the Basque Country and while no warnings have been issued, very strong gusts of wind will hit the Strait of Gibraltar.
Saturday May 23

Easterly winds will continue across most of the country on Saturday, and they could once again be potentially gusty along the Strait. Otherwise, the day promises to be largely clear and sunny. Both day and nighttime temperatures will remain unchanged.
Sunday May 24

A stable situation dominated by high pressure is expected to persist across most of the country, with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies. However, a cut-off low located northwest could spread further south late in the afternoon, resulting in increased cloud cover.
Daytime temperatures will continue to be high for this time of year, exceeding 34-36ºC in large areas of the southwest.
