Spain weekly weather forecast September 1-4
The north can expect plenty more rain this week, whereas it will be dry and hotting up again in the south

The first week of September begins unsettled, with storms, heavy rain and coastal alerts affecting much of northern and eastern Spain. However, as the week progresses, conditions will stabilise for most areas, with temperatures rising again in the south and Mediterranean regions.
Monday September 1

Seven regions are under weather alerts to start the week. Catalonia is on orange alert until late morning for very heavy rain, while Aragón and the Balearic Islands are under yellow alert for rain and storms. Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia, the Basque Country and the Balearics are also on alert for strong coastal conditions and gusty winds.
Heavy showers and storms are forecast in eastern Catalonia and the Pyrenees, some accompanied by hail. Elsewhere in the north and northeast, conditions will be unsettled but will ease later in the day.
Temperatures will drop across most of the country, with the sharpest falls in the eastern interior. Values are not expected to exceed 34ºC anywhere, though nights will remain mild with minimums above 20ºC in much of the Mediterranean. In the Canary Islands, little change is expected.
Tuesday September 2

Atlantic circulation will bring a new front into Galicia, spreading rain eastwards across the region. The Cantabrian coast may also see showers, though less intense. Rías Baixas could experience persistent rain.
Isolated morning storms are possible in Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Balearics. For most of Spain, high cloud will dominate, with brighter skies later in the day. The Canary Islands will continue with cloudy weather in the north and clearer skies to the south.
Temperatures will generally rise, except in the Mediterranean where they may dip slightly. Maximums are not expected to pass 35ºC, but warm nights will continue along the Mediterranean coast. Winds will be moderate, strongest in Galicia and on the Cantabrian coast.
Wednesday September 3

Widespread rain is forecast for Galicia and Asturias, with the heaviest falls in Rías Baixas, and occasional storms could develop in the afternoon. Some showers are also possible in Catalonia, the Balearics and the Pyrenees, but the rest of Spain will enjoy clearer, calmer weather.
Temperatures will rise in most regions, particularly across the northern plateau, though they will dip in Rías Baixas and around Málaga. Highs could exceed 35ºC in the Guadalquivir valley, while night-time temperatures in the Mediterranean area will again stay above 20ºC.
Thursday September 4

Atlantic fronts will continue to dominate the north, bringing showers and storms to Galicia, the Cantabrian coast and nearby areas. Scattered storms may also develop inland and along parts of the Catalonia and Valencia coastlines in the afternoon, though much of central and southern Spain will remain dry with sunny spells.
Temperatures will fall in the north but rise in the southeast, where temperatures are once again expected to pass 35ºC. Minimums will stay above 20ºC in the Mediterranean and parts of Andalucía.
