Storms, showers and risk of more flooding: Murcia weekend weather forecast June 1-4
We’re not finished with the rain yet, as fresh downpours are forecast for this weekend and into next week

Murcia weather warnings, Thursday June 1
No change in the weather as we change to a new month. The rains that have left widespread flooding in the Region of Murcia for the last two weeks will continue this weekend, and more weather warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall and storms.
This was the wettest month of May in 83 years in the Region of Murcia, with the Region not having seen rainfall like it since 1941. These downpours mean that this spring is no longer the driest ever recorded, as predicted, but the second driest after the spring of 1995.
Of course, we needed the rain, as the Spanish say, ‘como agua de mayo’ – like water in May – as it’s good for the plants and has helped to top up the depleted reservoirs enough to bring us out of the danger zone of hosepipe bans this summer. But it’s come at the cost of much damage and destruction.
Weather forecast for this weekend
Up to 25 litres of rain per square metre are forecast to fall in one hour both in inland areas and in the north of the Region of Murcia on Thursday June 1, up until 10pm. While there is an increased risk of flooding, meteorologists from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) are not predicting any more episodes of hail.
On Friday June 2, there is much of the same, with thunderstorms in the north of the Region and yellow warnings issued for the risk of up to 20 litres of rain in an hour between midday and 8pm.
By Saturday 3 there will no longer be any weather alerts active in the Region, though that by no means signifies the end of the rain. It simply means it will be less intense.

Murcia weather forecast, Saturday June 3
Sunday 4 and Monday 5 should be much drier, with light rainfall only forecast in the afternoons, but don’t count your chickens until they’ve fully dried out – everything points to another wet week coming up ahead.

Leak Proof, for all your roofing needs in the Costa Cálida and the Costa Blanca
Leak Proof is a British father and son business based in the southern Costa Blanca for over a decade which offers services for all roofing needs, not only in the province of Alicante but also throughout the Costa Cálida and the Region of Murcia.
All kinds of properties and roofs are catered for, whether they are old or new and whether the work required is on a complete roof or only on a specific area. Flat roofs are typical causes for concern regarding leaks, for example on extensions and garages, and the specialist knowledge and techniques used by Leak Proof are also applicable to fibreglass roofing, conservatories, covered passageways and even classic old “finca”-style properties with tiling issues.
30-year guarantees are supplied with fibreglass roofing (also known as GRP Roofing) and membrane roofing, a system for used for both buildings and tanks. The purpose of membrane roofing is to move water off the roof, and the membranes used are most commonly made of synthetic rubber, thermoplastic and modified bitumen.
Leak Proof guarantee that all of the membranes they employ are UV resistant and provide insulation against both hot and cold weather conditions, making them ideal for flat roofs and the floors of solariums, roof terraces and balconies.
In addition, they use a range of specialist waterproof paints for all interior and exterior work, and offer tiling and re-grouting services.
Insurance work and community projects on residential developments and urbanizations are undertaken, and full invoices are provided.
