Summer kicks off early in Cabo de Palos with high tourist numbers, great terrazas and a new car park
The coast of Cartagena close to La Manga is coming alive as visitors pour in for the long weekend

Summer has unofficially arrived in Cabo de Palos. With the Día de la Región long weekend in full swing, beaches are packed, terraces are buzzing and the first flood of tourists of the season have joined local Murcia residents in embracing the coast. The combination of sunshine, a three-day break and fully operational hospitality venues has created the perfect recipe for an early summer getaway.
Locals and tourists alike have taken advantage of the warm weather, with families arriving in full beach gear, with umbrellas, mats and coolers in tow. While July and August remain the peak months for tourism in Murcia, of course, the summer vibe is already thriving, with umbrellas dotting every available spot of sand.
Restaurants along the beach have been thriving, filling terraces and welcoming the seasonal boost earlier than expected. However, not all is sunny: many beach bars remain closed due to regulatory changes affecting their operations, leaving noticeable gaps along the shoreline.

These include calls for services such as shuttle transfers and bike hire points, to make the new parking area more practical in the summer heat.
Local authorities have also completed upgrades across the town of Cabo de Palos. The sports courts at Las Galeotas square have been refurbished, and the Bocana del Puerto has undergone a €310,000 transformation with
new paving, breakwater improvements and LED lighting to enhance the waterfront for both residents and tourists.

All these attractions have brought customers out in force to the bars, restaurants and outdoor terraces in Cabo de Palos, and this trend is only expected to continue as the good weather continues and the tourist holiday season gets fully underway.
