ARCHIVED - Sunny skies and temperatures rise: Murcia weather forecast January 30-February 5
Temperatures could once again rise to 22ºC by the end of this week

It’s been a chilly couple of weeks in Murcia, as far as southern Spain goes, but all that looks set to change by the end of this week as maximum temperatures during the daytime hit highs of over 20ºC once again across the centre and south of the Region, and night-time minimums once again rise above zero in most parts of the north.
In the meantime, the beginning of this week will continue the cold conditions we’ve seen for most of the year up until now. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for Monday January 30 and Tuesday January 31 for cold in the northern parts of the Region, in places like Yecla, Jumilla and Moratalla, for temperatures as low as -4ºC.

At the same time, Tuesday will also see highs at around lunchtime of 19ºC in Murcia capital city, and that trend is set to continue as the week goes on, with temperatures slowly creeping up across the board and over the entire Region.

It will be mainly sunny all week, and no rain is forecast at all, nor even any snow this week. There will be some moderate cloud cover on Thursday February 2 and across the weekend, especially near Cartagena and along the coast, but Aemet says they will mostly just be cloudy intervals.
By Sunday February 5, those maximum temperatures will have risen further up to an almost summery 22ºC in Murcia city, and 21ºC in other parts of the central Murcia Region like Totana, Lorca and Mula.

This, combined with mild windspeeds of no more than 15kmh, will mean that the weather will feel decidedly less wintery as we move into the month of February. That’s not to say that the cold is done for the year already – there’s still a long way to go before spring and some sunny weather does not a summer make – but the rising temperatures and dry conditions will have many hopeful that they will be able to put away their big coats already and may give truth to the predictions of long-term drought in future.
