Suspect arrested after violent robbery on Lorca street
Lorca police arrested a man following a city-centre attack on local woman

A 47-year-old woman was attacked and robbed in broad daylight on Calle José María Zarauz in the centre of Lorca at the weekend. Local Police have arrested a young man believed to be responsible.
Juan Miguel Bayonas, Lorca’s Councillor for Citizen Security, said the woman was targeted for her handbag, which contained her mobile phone, personal documents and €70 in cash.
"The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack," he added.
Officers from the GISC unit located a suspect matching the description shortly after the incident. He was stopped, identified and arrested. Police say he has an expulsion order from Spain already in place.
A knife was found in his trouser pocket during the search. He was taken for a medical examination before being transferred to the police station and placed in custody.
The councillor stated that, "Following instructions from Mayor Fulgencio Gil, the City Council will demand that the expulsion order against this individual be executed. Work is already underway to file a private prosecution against him and to organise other legal mechanisms, such as the issuance of a banishment order from our municipality."
