Temperatures climb across Spain: Weather forecast January 8-11
Even with the arrival of storm Goretti, the wintery weather should start to ease off in most of Spain

Temperatures expected on Friday afternoon, Janaury 9
Spain is in for a dramatic weather shift this week, going from icy temperatures to 20ºC almost overnight. And even though Goretti, the eight major storm of the season, is forecast to batter much of the north with yet more rain, both day and nighttime temperatures should keep inching up over the weekend.
Thursday January 8

Those living along the Mediterranean coast can look forward to bright, sunny skies on Thursday while the rest of Spain is stuck with more cloudy, overcast weather. Storm Goretti will bring heavy rain to northern Spain.
Temperatures will rise sharply across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, although little change is expected in the Canary Islands. Even so, maximums will remain in the high-teens for the time being.
Strong, westerly winds will cause some problems in the likes of the Valencian Community, where a yellow alert for gusts and dangerous sea conditions has been activated.
Friday January 9

The winds will continue to gather strength on Friday and orange level alerts have been issued in Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country. Several other regions, including the Valencian Community, Murcia and Andalucia, are on yellow alert.
Heavy downpours will persist in northern Spain but according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), it should remain dry elsewhere. Both day and nighttime temperatures will climb in southern and central Spain, reaching highs of around 18ºC in large parts of Murcia and Andalucia.
Saturday January 10

Although increased stability is expected across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, cloudy or overcast skies are forecast everywhere but the Mediterranean coast and areas of the southern plateau and Andalucia.
Daytime temperatures will take a slight dip across the country.
Sunday January 11

The outlook on Sunday is very similar, with bright, sunny skies in the Mediterranean but heavy cloud cover everywhere else. Daytime temperatures will take another big upswing, especially in the south of the country.
