ARCHIVED - Temperatures stay in the 30s as wildfire risk remains extreme: Spain weather forecast July 25-31
It will still be very hot in Spain this week, but the official risk level for more forest fires will thankfully decrease with the arrival of rain
At the beginning of this week, there will be weather warnings issued for high temperatures in excess of 40ºC in much of central and southern mainland Spain, including in Murcia, while the risk of forest fires is ‘Extreme’ in virtually the whole country.
Thankfully, the warnings will be deactivated in most parts by Wednesday July 27, and the wildfire risk will begin to decrease as we go through the week, which is a blessing as 2022 is already the most destructive year for forest fires in Spain since records began.
While Andalusia will see highs of 40ºC for nearly the whole week, central Spain will have temperatures in the high-30s and the traditionally colder northern region of Galicia, which has suffered some devastating forest fires, will see maximums in the low-20s.
Temperatures in Spain, Monday July 25
From Wednesday to Saturday, there will even be scattered rainstorms in the west and northwest of the country, in Valencia, Catalonia and along the Basque coast to refresh the land a bit.
Rain in Spain, Friday July 29
There will even be rain on Friday July 29 in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, where temperatures will be manageable in the high-20s and into the 30s.
