With dumping and fly tipping becoming a municipal problem the easy way to recycle or dispose of large amounts of waste is the Mazarrón Ecoparque facility
Mazarrón Ecoparque is around 20 minutes’ drive from Camposol and can be found by taking the Aguilas exit on the RM-332 roundabout which is at the southern end of the RM-3 motorway. See here for a map Ecoparque - Google Maps:

An Ecopark is a selective waste collection facility, where citizens can deposit less common waste free of charge, which has no place in the containers installed on public roads. Others who can make use of the Ecoparks, free of charge, are those shops, offices and services whose waste production can be considered comparable to the waste generated in private homes and in particular those from the following activities (with CNAE - National classification of Economic activities number):
Admissible waste
The waste that may be admitted to the Mazarrón Ecopark for deposit and selective collection and subsequent management of the same for reuse, recycling, recovery or, ultimately, controlled disposal, are those listed below (with L.E.R. – European Waste List number).
As a general criterion, only waste from private homes and that produced in shops, offices or services, which due to their nature, composition and quantity are similar to that from homes, will be accepted, excluding any type of waste of industrial origin.
A - Non-hazardous waste
- Flat glass
- Plastics
- Scrap metal
- Clothing-Textiles, footwear
- Wood
- Debris, earth and inert remains from minor construction and home repair works (maximum 100 kg/delivery per day)
- “Green” waste from pruning and gardening work in general that is generated in private homes or in similar places or activities.
- Bulky: furniture, mattresses, bed bases, various items, etc. (maximum 3 units/delivery per day or a maximum of 100 kg/delivery per day)
- Appliances (maximum 2 units/delivery per day)
- Computer and electronic equipment (maximum 2 units/delivery per day).
B - Hazardous waste
- Fluorescent tubes (maximum 3 units/delivery per day)
- Used batteries, alkaline and button (maximum 2 kgs/delivery per day)
- Toner and printer cartridges (maximum 5 units/delivery per day)
- X-rays (maximum 15 units/delivery per day)
- Car batteries (maximum 1 unit/delivery per day)
- Mineral oil (maximum 10 litres/delivery per day)
- Vegetable oils (maximum 10 litres/delivery per day)
- Expired medications (maximum 5 kgs/delivery per day)
These limitations will not apply to the municipal pruning and bulk collection service, which will deposit the waste collected each day at the ecoparks.
However, the Mazarrón Town Council may include other urban waste not contemplated or eliminate any of the aforementioned.
When it is verified that a user, even respecting the maximum quantities per delivery, has been depositing with high frequency some of the types of waste admissible in the installation, in notable quantities that may indicate a non-household or assimilated origin, or where appropriate industrial, the amounts contributed by said user may be limited, even prohibiting their entry. This limitation may be carried out by the contractor responsible for the management and operation service of the Ecopark, although it must immediately notify the technical management of the service.
Inadmissible waste
In general, the following types of waste will not be admissible in the Mazarrón Ecopark:
- Mixed urban waste
- Other unsegregated waste
- Unauthorised hazardous waste
- Unidentified waste
Waste from the construction sector, of industrial, agricultural or livestock, clinical or hospital origin, and any others apart from than those specified in the previous section, will not be accepted.
