This is a central square in the heart of the old quarter of Cehegín, the historic “Casco Antiguo”, which contains many noble houses bearing the coats of arms of the families to whom they belonged. The plaza lies on a corner of the main thoroughfare up through the old quarter to the church which dominates the skyline, the Calle Cuesta Parador and Calle Cañadica.
Plaza Alfaro is just above a corner where two streets intersect and is higher than the street below it, with a café-bar which serves excellent tapas and is very popular with foreign visitors sharing part of the area it occupies.
During the summer this is also the venue for occasional concerts and cultural activities.
