The Spanish splash park where dogs rule the waves this summer

A one-of-a-kind water park near Barcelona gives dogs the run of the slides, pools and play zones

We all know one of the most refreshing ways to spend a sweltering summer day in Spain is at a water park. But just half an hour from Barcelona, there’s one that’s not made for us – it’s made entirely for our dogs.

Perros al Agua, in La Roca del Vallès, is Spain’s only water park designed exclusively for our four-legged companions. It’s open from May to October and is the perfect place for our pets to cool off and let off some steam, while we sit back and relax.

There are two huge swimming pools for the dogs to dive into. The Grand Lake is ideal for pups of all shapes and sizes, while the smaller Mini Lake is perfect for little dogs and even has two slides for extra fun in the sun.

If your dog fancies a break from the water, there’s also a soft dune area where they can roll around and make new furry friends. Meanwhile, we can unwind under a parasol in one of the shaded lounge spots or grab a drink and a bite to eat from one of the park’s food outlets.

If you’re planning to visit during the summer months, the park is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00am to 7:30pm. From September, it switches to Fridays and weekends only, with slightly shorter hours of 11:00am to 6:00pm.

You can buy tickets on the website for €16 for one dog and its owner, or €18 on the day. Extra guests can join in for €9.

To get there, just take the B-10 out of Barcelona, join the C-31, then follow the BP-5002 detour near La Roca del Vallès and head towards the BV-5159. It’s easy to find and makes for a brilliant day out for the whole pack.
