ARCHIVED - The terrifying new crime wave sweeping Spain: dozens of girls injected with mystery drug in nightclubs
Police are baffled as they can’t find any toxic substances or more serious crimes related with the spate of injections
A shocking new crime wave has been detected among young people in Spain’s nightclubs as more and more young people, many women, have come forward to say they have been injected and drugged by a stranger.
These incidents have been recorded among tourists and clubbers in Andalusia, the Valencia region, Catalonia and all over the country.
Now, Spain’s different autonomous communities are implementing new protocols to deal with these alleged attacks, considering it a new and previously unknown form of chemical submission, and are stepping up police presence in their clubs.
The curious thing is, though, that in most cases, when the alleged victims are tested for toxic substances in their blood, investigators can’t find any traces of chemicals.
Even so, the victims report experiencing dizziness, pain and fainting, and many of them bear a mark on their arms and legs where they were jabbed with a needle.
The Minister of Justice in Spain, Pilar Llop, pointed out that these needle pricks would be considered a “crime of injuries with the aggravating circumstance of gender”, as the vast majority are aimed at women.
So-called “date-rape” drugging in nightclubs is nothing new, of course, but up until now spiked drinks have normally been the modus operandi of predators, and not injections.
Normally, young girls in nightclubs are drugged for the purposes of sexually abusing them. But the other thing that differentiates Spain’s recent wave of injection druggings is that most of them have not been followed by any sort of unwanted sexual activity.
So why are so many girls being jabbed in clubs all across Spain? Are they cases of attempted sexual abuse that were foiled before the aggressor could finish the crime? Is it some organised criminal gang testing out a new compound that is undetectable to police? Or is there some other disease or substance that is being transmitted by these injections that goes beyond narcotics?
The investigation continues.
