ARCHIVED - This Easter I am going to die: DGT in Spain launches shock road safety campaign
The video features drivers in Spain revealing the chilling predictions of traffic fatalities

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) in Spain has released a chilling video ahead of the upcoming Holy Week as part of its campaign to promote road safety this Easter.
The hard-hitting 45-second clip features people of different ages and genders telling viewers that they will lose their lives on Spanish roads this year.
"Man, 46 years old", "Woman, 40, Andalusia" are some of the people delivering the message of “Big Data,” which predicts how many people will lose their lives on the road over the Easter holidays.

Speaking in a darkened room with only flashes of light to illuminate them and frightening noises of car crashes in the background, the spectres reveal that "The Big Data, the algorithms, the statistics, predict everything, and they say that this Easter 36 people will die on Spanish roads."
Despite the harshness of the message, the video concludes with a point of hope, saying that "now that we know, we can avoid it," by respecting the rules of the road.
"Let's make Big Data wrong," one woman says at the end of the video.
Last year, the DGT reported that 32 people died in road traffic accidents during Holy Week even though Covid mobility restrictions were still in place, the highest figure recorded since 2016, when 41 people lost their lives.
