Three Murcia beaches go head to head for Best in Spain award
Two beaches in Cartagena and one in Lorca are competing for the 2025 crown

Three stunning beaches on the Costa Cálida have been shortlisted in the race to be crowned Spain’s best beach in this year’s Condé Nast Traveller awards.
Each year, readers of the prestigious travel and lifestyle magazine vote for their favourite coastal escapes across the country. For 2025, the editorial team has handpicked three idyllic spots in the Region of Murcia to represent the area: Calblanque Beach in Cartagena, Cala Blanca in Lorca and Cala Reona in Cabo de Palos, which also falls within Cartagena’s municipal borders.

Voting is already underway, with readers choosing the top beach in each autonomous community. The regional winners will be announced on May 30 and those finalists will then go head-to-head for the national title.
The ultimate winner of ‘Best Beach in Spain’ will be revealed on June 17.
Last year’s top honour went to Zarautz Beach in Guipúzcoa, with other favourites including Bolonia, Valdevaqueros, San Antonio del Mar and Papagayo earning honourable mentions.

Previous winners include Playa de Bolonia in Cádiz (2023), Valdevaqueros in Cádiz (2021), San Antonio del Mar in Asturias (2020) and Papagayo in Lanzarote (2019).
