Top 3 apps to help you find parking in Spain
Take the stress out of finding a parking spot on your next trip to Spain
One of the draws for many visitors to Spain is the lure of the wide open road, meandering through mountain-side villages or exploring the culture and excitement of its cities. But whether you’re drawn by the coast or urban vistas, during the packed summer season finding parking can be a real nuisance, and while there are certainly lots of free spots, the last thing any holidaymaker needs is the headache of a parking fine.
Fighting other rush-hour commuters or seaside weekenders is something the Spanish have down to a fine art, and these popular phone apps will make finding a parking space a doddle on your next trip.
1. Telpark
This app is one of the favourites among drivers in Spain as it covers pretty much all of the country. On top of finding the nearest car park, Telpark will allow you to pay from your mobile, and even extend your parking time with a single click. Motorists only pay for the exact amount of time they use the spot, so there’s no binning unused parking tickets if you return early.
Finally, this handy app stores all the spaces that you’ve previously parked in, allowing you to easily find your favourite spot again and even keeps a record of how much you’ve spent, so you can plan your parking budget accordingly.
2. El Parking
Next up is El Parking, which again allows you to pay quickly and easily via your mobile in addition to highlighting the free spaces available in each regulated car park. Available in around 100 municipalities across Spain, this app allows users to reserve spaces and get unlimited entrances and exits for the duration.
Like Telpark, it will allow you to pay only for the time you use your space, and will reimburse your account if you leave the car park earlier than expected.
3. Easypark
The beauty of this app is that is gives you the option of parking spaces on public streets, as well as in public and private car parks. You can again pay directly from your mobile, and Easypark provides real-time information on parking spots in around 900 cities in 14 different European countries.
Remember that in Spain, drivers can be fined for using their mobile phones behind the wheel, so always pull over before logging in to your parking app.
