Tortilla de patatas from 'Cucú Gastrobar' in Murcia ranked among the best in Spain
The calçots from ‘La Cerdanya’ in Cartagena also feature in the Repsol quality guide
“Simple pleasures are sometimes the most difficult to satisfy,” states the Repsol guide, whose app recommends the best establishments in which to enjoy traditional dishes in Spain. This is true most definitely for the Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish Omelette), where in Spain, to please one’s customers is notoriously difficult.
However, one such restaurant in Murcia (Cucú Gastrobar) has made the Repsol list as one of the top 17 places to get this famed Spanish dish. The three most popular dishes in Spain to be searched include the Spanish Omelette, as well as calçots and bocadillo de calamares.
Another restaurant from the Murcia region that made the Repsol guide list, is the restaurant, ‘La Cerdanya’ in Cartagena. The restaurant made the list for their excellent calçots, which are like grilled greens typical of Catalonia.
According to the Repsol Guide, it is very common to search for one of these three dishes on the Internet. In the last 12 months, for example, the term ‘calçots’ was searched on Google an average of 118,600 times per month; ‘tortilla de patatas’ was searched 23,200 times per month; and ‘bocadillo de calamares’ was searched 17,200 times per month.
The Repsol guide therefore selected the best restaurants in Spain to find these dishes. The guide stated, “To make sure you’re on the right track and not make a mistake, we’ve selected, using the criteria of our experts, some of the bars and restaurants in Spain where you can try these three dishes.”
In the Repsol Guide app you can access this selection of places in three interactive lists, one for each dish, with detailed information about each establishment.
Below are the places selected by the Repsol guide for Omelettes and calçot:
