Tourist, 72, attacked by Ibiza chef because he sent back a dish

The Guardia Civil police in Spain have arrested the cook of a restaurant in Santa Eulària, Ibiza, for assaulting and causing serious injuries to a customer who complained.

The customer returned a dish when he was eating at the establishment with his partner and some friends.

The attack occurred last month, when the diner, a 72-year-old German man, informed the kitchen staff that the dish he had been served was not the one he had ordered and that it was in poor condition.

According to the Guardia Civil in a press release on Wednesday, the cook, a 37-year-old Spaniard, went to the table shouting and in a very aggressive manner and when he reached the man he gave him a strong push that caused him to fall to the ground and hit the back of a chair, injuring his back and neck.

The man who was attacked quickly left the premises with his friends and partner and went to the nearest health centre, where they told him that he only had minor bruises.

Few days later he returned to the hospital because he was still feeling unwell and they decided to transfer him to the Son Espases Hospital in Palma.

He was quickly admitted for surgery and it was found that he had two blood clots in his chest that were making it difficult for him to breathe.

The chef has been arrested for alleged serious injury and has been brought before a court.
