Train hits heavily pregnant cow in Gijón, calf born on impact and human body found nearby
Unusual accident leads Guardia Civil to discover decomposed man’s body while investigating collision
In a strange incident last week in the village of Fontaciera, Gijón, in northern Spain, a train struck a heavily pregnant cow at around 6am last Wednesday, tragically killing the animal instantly but also delivering a calf in the impact. Known locally as Milagros, was born at the scene and thrown free by the force of the collision. However, what began as a remarkable birth story quickly took a darker turn when the Guardia Civil, called to investigate the scene, discovered the body of a man nearby. Apparently abandoned for around four months, the man’s remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition near the tracks.
Initial reports suggest the man may have been homeless and had disembarked from a nearby train stop. It is believed he sought shelter in an abandoned warehouse close to the site where the cow was struck. Early hypotheses indicate that he died of natural causes.
The unusual combination of events has drawn considerable attention in the local community. The Guardia Civil continue their investigation.
