ARCHIVED - Tree branch collapses on cars in Santiago de la Ribera during fiesta celebrations
Two cars were crushed under the weight of a pine tree branch, shocking residents in the San Javier district of Santiago de la Ribera.
Residents of Plaza del Segura, in the San Javier district of Santiago de la Ribera, looked on shocked yesterday (July 13) as a branch from a 10-metre high pine tree collapsed into the road causing damage to two cars in the middle of local fiesta celebrations.
Dozens of residents, who had gathered to watch a show in celebration of the Virgen del Carmen festivities, witnessed the branch topple at around 8.30 pm, smashing two vehicles and leaving one shocked woman to exclaim: "My husband could be dead right now. The branch fell right where he reads every day,” as quoted in local Spanish media.
According to the distressed woman, the council had come “a fortnight ago to look at the tree and they did nothing."
No one was injured in the collapse.
