Two new Michelin star restaurants in Andalusia
The restaurants Cañabota (Sevilla) and Nintai (Marbella) join the list of Andalusian haute cuisine restaurants
The world of haute cuisine reached its annual climax this Tuesday, December 14, in Valencia for the gastronomic event of the year. At the Michelin España & Portugal 2022 event, the Michelin Guide group gave out two new stars to restaurants in Andalucía.
One of the new Michelin stars went to Seville’s Cañabota, a restaurant that’s only five years old but where the traditionally cooked fish is apparently exqusiste.
The other star went to Nintai, a Japanese restaurant in Marbella, Málaga whose philosophy revolves around serving only the best Japanese food. The restaurant stands out for its unique set up – there is a wooden bar in the middle with only twelve seats where the ‘itamae’ prepares Japanese dishes for the select group of diners.
Even after these two new additions, the list of “starred” restaurants in the region is still 18 as it was before because two other restaurants – Alejandro (Roquetas de Mar, Almería) and Acánthum (Huelva) – have lost their stars because they had to close down.
Aponiente, belonging to chef Ángel León in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), continues to lead the Andalusian haute cuisine table as the only restaurant with three Michelin stars in 2022.
With two stars, there are three other restaurants: Bardal (Ronda, Málaga), Noor (Córdoba) and Skina (Marbella).
There are also 14 one-starred establishments in Andalucía, following the incorporation of Cañabota and Nintai. These are:
- Abantal (Sevilla)
- Alevante (Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz)
- Bagá (Jaén)
- Choco (Córdoba)
- Dama Juana (Jaén)
- El Lago (Marbella)
- José Carlos García (Málaga)
- La Costa (El Ejido, Almería)
- LÚ Cocina y Alma (Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz)
- Mantúa (Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz)
- Messina (Marbella)
- Sollo (Fuengirola, Málaga)
