ARCHIVED - Two wanted men arrested in Malaga and Granada over murder in Germany
Police have arrested two Albanians in Malaga and Granada wanted for a shooting in Germany.
Officers from the National Police have arrested two men wanted under European Arrest Warrants for the murder of a 20-year-old man, who they allegedly shot, and the assault of a 31-year-old man in a town in Germany.
The investigation by police began following a complaint by a Maghreb man in Malaga who told police he had been extorted by two Albanian man after a failed business venture.
Officers were able to identify the suspects, who were allegedly using false Italian identities, after discovering the pair were wanted by the German authorities under European Arrest Warrants.
Police tracked the men, aged 25 and 31, down to Cartama in Malaga and Otura in Granada. Following a search of their homes, officers found a semi-automatic gun with 12 bullets, and another weapon with 15 bullets, one of them in the chamber. They also found a bag containing 2,030 grams of marijuana and €19,990.
Officers from the Canine Unit, the Special Systems Section of the Malaga Provincial Police and the Granada Narcotics police took part in the investigation.
The arrests come following international operations between Spanish police and their counterparts across Europe to locate suspects wanted under European Arrest Warrants.
