Until December 3 Exhibition of recovered historical treasures in Alhama de Murcia
Luchando contra el Expolio, Valle del Guadalentín illustrates the fight against plundering and treasure hoarding in the Guadalentín valley
An exhibition is being held this autumn at the Museo Arqueológico Los Baños in Alhama de Murcia concerning the fight against the plunder of historical and cultural heritage in the Guadalentín valley, which runs through the municipalities of Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras, Totana, Alhama, Librilla and Mazarrón.
Among the items on display are both originals and replicas of objects which have been recovered by the forces of law and order in operations to prevent plundering and treasure hoarding, as well as various which were returned to the authorities by those who had found and taken them illegally. In many cases when objects are removed from their place of discovery they lose their context and thus their significance, since it becomes impossible to verify their authenticity.
“Luchando contra el Expolio, Valle del Guadalentín” can be visited at the Los Baños archaeological museum in Alhama from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10.00 and 14.00 and from 16.30 to 19.30, and on Sundays from 10.00 to 14.00.
