A scorching weekend on the way throughout the Region of Murcia
Summer weather is on its way to the Costa Cálida this weekend, with temperatures expected to rise steadily and reach maximums of up to 37 degrees in the city of Murcia on Sunday.
The fine weather of the last few days will continue on Friday with afternoon highs likely to reach 24 degrees in Yecla, 25 on the coast in Cartagena, 26 in Caravaca de la Cruz, 28 in Lorca and 31 in Murcia, but it is on Saturday that Aemet are forecasting the start of the first heatwave of 2021 as thermometers climb to over 30 in inland areas.
By Sunday, when a yellow alert for extreme heat is in place in the south of the province of Alicante, the expected highs in Murcia are below 30 degrees only on the coast – 26 in Cartagena – and well over 30 in all inland areas, and the regional capital is likely to be one of the warmest locations in Spain as maximums reach a scorching 37 degrees!
