Bus services will be operated to minimize the threat to flora and fauna in Calblanque
In recent summers restrictions have been in place on access for motor vehicles to the wild and unspoilt beaches of the regional park of Calblanque, Monte de las Cenizas y Peña del Águila, on the coastline of Cartagena between the city and Cabo de Palos, and for the summer of 2021 the regional government of Murcia has announced that similar measures are to be implemented in order to protect the native flora and fauna as well as the landscape itself.
As has been the case in the past, the limits will be placed on the number of motor vehicles entering the area, with special exceptions for residents, property owners, workers, the disabled and public services.
Public transport will be run by the Murcia government, who will also manage public information initiatives and guided tours, while the Town Hall of Cartagena will be in charge of maintaining the parking area and bus stop in Los Belones, planting trees, installing foot showers on the beaches and stepping up rubbish collection during the summer.
The local government will also be responsible for lifeguard and beach monitoring services along the coastline of the park.
