VIDEO: FBI take down UK hacker in Spain for stealing 27M USD of Bitcoins
Using FBI intelligence, Spanish police were able to arrest the British hacking mastermind before he could flee abroad

A 22-year-old British man has been arrested in Palma de Mallorca in a joint effort by Spanish police and the FBI on suspicion of being the ringleader of a hacking group which targeted 45 companies and people in the United States.
The man was arrested at Palma Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Italy.
He stands accused of hacking into corporate accounts and stealing critical information, which allegedly enabled the group to access multi-million-dollar funds. According to Palma police, at one point he “controlled” Bitcoins worth $27 million.
The alert was first raised by the FBI in Los Angeles after multiple companies were attacked. They reached out to their Spanish counterparts for information on the 22-year-old suspect. Spanish police determined that he had entered Spain via Barcelona at the end of May, with further investigations leading to his location in Mallorca.
A judge in Los Angeles issued a warrant for his arrest, which Palma police detectives executed as he prepared to board a flight to Italy. Investigations continue both in Spain and California. The 22-year-old has not been identified by police.
During his arrest, police confiscated a laptop and a mobile phone.
