In a heart-warming display of kindness and generosity, Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp brought a sprinkle of magic to the paediatric and oncology wards of the Donostia University Hospital in San Sebastian, northern Spain.
Dressed as the iconic Jack Sparrow, the acerbic protagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, Depp spent the afternoon of Thursday September 26 chatting, laughing and playing with the hospitalised children, creating unforgettable memories for the young patients and their families.
As part of his visit to the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival, Depp took time out of his busy schedule to spread joy and cheer to those who need it most. His surprise visit was met with beaming smiles and wide eyes as the children were thrilled to meet their beloved pirate hero.
Depp's visit was more than just a celebrity appearance; according to the staff, it was a much-needed distraction from the challenges the children are facing. By donning his Jack Sparrow costume, he brought a sense of wonder and escapism to the hospital, allowing the children to forget their struggles, if only for a brief moment.
The impact of Depp's visit was palpable, with the Basque Health Service reporting that his presence "delighted the patients, families and healthcare staff" at the hospital.
The staff at the Donostia Hospital were particularly grateful for Depp's time and energy, describing him as "a breath of fresh air for the entire ward."
