Streets were quickly flooded and water cascaded down onto the beaches, causing severe damage to the infrastructures of the popular seaside resort just north of the city of Castellón. Homes, garages and basements were inundated and various people had to be rescued by the emergency services, although fortunately no serious casualties have been reported.
Traffic was also disrupted, with the main N-340 road temporarily closed for a while and local streets completely impassable due firstly to the floodwater and then to the mud and debris which were left behind.

On Monday the State meteorological agency Aemet has again issued yellow and orange storm alerts in much of north-eastern mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, while on Tuesday the storms are expected to move west away from coastal areas.
