Warnings for rain and storms: Alicante weather forecast September 29 to October 2
A wet end to September should lead to a brighter start to October
Most of Spain’s east coast is on alert for heavy, persistant rain and storms today, including Alicante province, although it is not expected to be as severe as in neighbouring Valencia, acording to state meteorological agency Aemet.
Currently these warnings continue through until early on Tuesday morning, after which there should be less cloud but still possible showers, and it is unlikely to be particularly sunny again until late Wednesday afternoon.
Monday, September 29
A cloudy and wet afternoon lies ahead today
The sky is set to cloud over completely by 3pm for the rest of the day, bringing storms which could be quite heavy locally or very heavy in the north.
The northern half of the coast and the interior of Alicante province are on orange alert until midnight, during which time up to 100mm of rain could fall in intense downpours of up to 40mm in a single hour, posing a significant risk to people and property.
For the southern coast the warning is only yellow, as the rain will be more scattered but could still be up to 20mm in an hour.
Minimum temperatures are slightly down and maximums will be significantly lower.
The wind will be moderate and southerly on the coast, light and northerly inland.

Tuesday, September 30
Clouds and possibly more showers on Tuesday afternoon
The last day of the month will probably get off to a wet start, with yellow warnings for rain and storms in Alicante province on Tuesday morning.
They continue until 11am for the northern half of the coastline, but only until 7am for the southern coastline and the interior.
The alert gives a 40-70% probability of up to 20mm of rain within a single hour during this period, and there may be more scattered showers during the rest of the morning.
The sky will remain very cloudy or overcast all morning, giving way to cloudy intervals in the afternoon.
Minimum temperatures may drop in the northern third of the province and remain unchanged elsewhere, while maximums are not expected to change much, apart from a drop in the Alcoià area inland.
Winds are light and variable in the morning, and in the afternoon are likely to be moderate and northerly in the northern third, predominantly easterly in the south.

Wednesday, October 1
Cloudy intervals and possible showers will persist until the late afternoon
The new month is set to begin with cloudy intervals in most areas, but very cloudy with possible showers in the interior.
The cloudy intervals will persist across the province in the afternoon, with more possible showers across the central third, giving way to clear skies later on.
Minimum temperatures are predicted to rise slightly and maximums to remain unchanged, apart from a rise in the Alcoià area.
Light easterly winds on the coast and variable inland in the morning, becoming very weak and predominantly northerly in the afternoon.

Thursday, October 2
A brighter start to Thursday, but still with some cloud and the odd shower
Cloudy intervals across the province all day, with possible scattered showers in the northern half during the afternoon but becoming clearer later on.
The forecast shows a slight drop in minimum temperatures and a slight rise in maximums.
Winds are predicted to be light and predominantly southerly in the morning and first part of the afternoon, light and northerly in the evening.
