WATCH VIDEO: Flight from Spain to London cancelled after passenger poops on the floor
The easyJet flight from Tenerife was reportedly stuck on the runway for hours before it was eventually axed
It was a decidedly messy end to a holiday for dozens of disgruntled British passengers who were forced to spend an extra night in Spain – and find their own accommodation – after one tired traveller was presumably caught short and pooped on the floor of the plane bathroom.
Passengers had already been left sitting on the runway for hours aboard a flight due to depart Tenerife for London Gatwick at 8.05pm when the pilot delivered the unwelcome news.
“Rather entertaining to defecate the front toilet so we’re now staying the night here, we’re now going to get everyone off... and organise hotels then we’ll fly back tomorrow morning,” the pilot said over the loudspeaker.
This announcement was met with loud groans from the inconvenienced passengers and one traveller can be heard exclaiming “Who s*** on the floor?”
So we’ve been given the excuse of a toilet being defecated in for the reason for a CANCELLED flight?! @easyjet this is UNACCEPTABLE!! Your customer care is ATROCIOUS. 100s of passengers left STRANDED in the airport terminal! Do something!!!! pic.twitter.com/zn3jCoFIVJ

It’s not clear whether the passenger deliberately defecated on the floor in a show of frustration at the delay or if it was simply an accident, but either way, easyJet claims the plane required extra disinfecting and so cancelled the flight.
And while the airline originally promised to sort everyone out with somewhere to stay, a statement released on its website shortly after passengers disembarked indicated that, “due to extremely high demand”, people would be expected to find their own hotel rooms for the night.
“If you need a hotel room and are able to make your own arrangements, we’ll refund the cost of a reasonably priced room, meals and travel costs to and from your hotel.
“In this case we ask that you look for accommodation which is about three stars or equivalent,” easyJet said.
easyJet admitted that it was “unable to find hotel rooms in the area” and so passengers on board the plane all had to make their own arrangements.
