Weekly markets in the city and municipality of Murcia

Weekly markets in the city and municipality of Murcia

The two largest street markets are held on Thursday mornings, and dozens more take place every week in the municipality of Murcia

The two main weekly street markets in the city of Murcia are both held on Thursday morning, in Avenida La Fama and the district of Santa María de Gracia (mainly in Calle Auditórium, behind the Hospital de la Vega and the Parque de Fofó).

Both are extremely popular, and anyone visiting should certainly not expect to complete their shopping in a hurry! However, if they are popular it is not because shoppers expect to be able to make speedy purchases, but due to the huge range of fresh food available at attractive prices, and to the very wide range of other goods offered at the hundreds of stalls (650 in La Fama and almost 200 in Santa María de Gracia).

Click for locations, Avenida de La Fama and Calle Auditórium.

But Murcia is a huge municipality covering an area of almost 900 square kilometres, and in the other districts of the city and outlying towns and villages there are dozens of smaller markets every week. The full list is as follows:

Monday: Algezares, Barqueros, Era Alta, Guadalupe, La Alberca, Lobosillo, Monteagudo, Puente Tocinos, Rincón de Seca, Sucina.

Tuesday: Barrio Progreso district, Cabezo de Torres, Cobatillas, El Palmar, Los Garres, El Ranero, Sangonera la Seca, Santa Cruz, Santiago y Zaraiche.

Wednesday: Casillas, Churra, El Puntal, La Raya, Los Dolores, San José de la Vega, Torreagüera, Zarandona.

Thursday: La Albatalía, Aljucer, Barriomar district, El Raal, Avenida La Fama, Los Ramos, Patiño, Santiago el Mayor, Santa María de Gracia.

Friday: Alquerías, Avileses, Beniaján, Espinardo, Javalí Nuevo, La Ñora, Puebla de Soto, San Ginés, Santo Ángel, Valladolises.

Saturday: El Esparragal, Llano de Brujas, Nonduermas, Sangonera la Verde.

Sunday: Barrio Ermita Rosario (Los Garres), Barrio San José de la Montaña (Los Garres), Corvera.
