What should you do with your UK home when you move to Spain?
Many Brits will tell you that the answer to dealing with the bleak weather in England is simple: move to Spain. There are more than 350,000 people from the UK who’ve moved to the sunnier southern land, with greater numbers flocking here every year.
 
It can be a difficult decision deciding what to do with your UK home if you do move, though. Should you sell up and invest the money or keep it as a rental to earn a steady income flow? The other alternative would be to keep it as a British holiday home for a couple of months of the year.
 
 

Sell up or rent?

 
For many expats, the thought of simply leaving their house sitting there doing nothing in the UK doesn’t make sense. Selling up and reinvesting the cash in the Spanish property market could make more sense, as it would allow you to buy a dream villa over here.

Of course, this isn’t for everyone, and you’ll need to have quite a lot of cash piled up to be able to live out this nation-hopping scenario.
 
The key thing to remember is to not rush into any decisions. If you’ve never lived in Spain before, it’s not recommended to sell your house before you’ve had a taste of the lifestyle here. The wise move would be to come over for a few months and see if you like it first. Then, you could start thinking about what to do with your UK home.
