Widespread rain as Storm Olivier sweeps in: Spain weather forecast Apr 10-13
Spain has seen the last of the sun for the time being as Easter Week threatens to be a washout

Weather outlook on Sunday April 13
The forecasters have been threatening a wet and windy Easter for some time now and as Holy Week draws nearer, it unfortunately appears that they were right. We’ll see a drastic weather change from this Thursday April 10 as Storm Olivier sweeps over the Canary Islands and onto mainland Spain. From Friday (April 11), the rain will become widespread and the entire country can expect thunderstorms or showers at the very least.
At the moment, it looks as though the east of Spain will the hardest hit between Friday and Palm Sunday, with the rain likely to continue well into the middle of next week.
Thursday April 10

As the Canary Islands continue to be battered by driving rain and hail, mainland Spain will experience a settled enough day, with cloudy skies and scattered showers developing from the afternoon onwards.
The weather will worsen in the south as the evening draws in with lots of suspended dust in the air.
Temperatures will drop across the board but the mercury will still reach the mid-20s in large parts of Andalucía, where orange weather alerts are in place for strong gusts and dangerous sea conditions.
Friday April 11

The approach of Storm Olivier from the southwest will cause increased instability across the country, with abundant cloud cover advancing from south to north and heavy rain and thunderstorms along the entire western coast.
The haze will extend to most of the country, leaving muddy rain in its wake.
Daytime temperatures will fall across most of the Atlantic coast but few changes are expected elsewhere.
Andalucía will remain under an orange alert for winds until 3pm, while yellow storm warnings have been activated in Asturias, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Galicia.
Saturday April 12

Saturday will again be very dull and wet throughout the entire country, with the worst of the rain expected to hit the Strait of Gibraltar and central Spain. Showers are also likely in the south where they will combine with the Saharan dust to create muddy downpours.
Temperatures will continue to drop.
Sunday April 13

The outlook isn’t much better for Palm Sunday when Storm Olivier will be joined by a high pressure system from the west, resulting in overcast skies and intense rain and thunderstorms later in the day.
Daytime temperatures could creep up by a degree or two along the east coast.
