Worker in Spanish hotel caught trying to poison tourists with bleach after losing her job
The employee was caught in a Málaga hotel trying to pour bleach over the buffet in front of guests
A 50-year-old woman was arrested in the Costa del Sol recently after trying to poison tourists by pouring bleach over the buffet dinner. The act was part of a revenge plot against the hotel that had fired her a few days before.Tourists raised the alarm to the hotel after they witnessed the woman pouring a yellowish liquid over a tray of fruit and yoghurt in a glass dessert display case.
The woman then returned to the kitchen pushing a cleaning trolley used for collecting dirty dishes from the people staying at the hotel. A hotel receptionist and head of security quickly alerted the authorities after the incident took place.
When the police arrived they confiscated two bottles of dishwasher detergent containing bleach from the woman. The police then ran a test to check the buffet food and found that it had been poisoned with the dangerous chemical.
The woman has now been charged with a crime against public health as the prosecutors are seeking a jail sentence for the ex-employee. As of right now the woman could be facing a three-year prison stint for the attempted poisoning of the guests at the hotel.
The ex-employee has denied any wrongdoing and is expected to register a not-guilty plea when she enters a court hearing in Málaga.
Furthermore, the woman was also accused of pouring bleach into a bottle of milk used by colleagues, five days before the buffet incident, after she was told that her contract was being terminated.
