Pleasant temperatures and dry conditions of late look set to continue into the weekend, with the mercury sitting comfortably in the high teens and peaking at 21ºC in the likes of Orihuela.

Cloudy intervals will give way to clear skies for lengthy periods, albeit accompanied by winds that could feel pretty gusty in inland areas, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Friday January 6 will dawn with partly cloudy or clear skies, giving way to intervals of low clouds in coastal areas. Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged for the most part, rising slightly inland. On the coast, a light to moderate south-westerly wind is forecast; light and variable elsewhere.

Alcoy: 5ºC to 17ºC

Alicante: 5ºC to 17ºC

Denia: 7ºC to 17ºC

Elche: 6ºC to 18ºC

Orihuela: 4ºC to 17ºC

The outlook for the first half of Saturday January 7 is once again cloudy, particularly in coastal areas, with intervals of low cloud and clear skies inland in the afternoon. The thermometers will creep up marginally, topping out at 20ºC in the Baix Vinolopo region of the province, accompanied by a light to moderate westerly wind.

Alicante: 4ºC to 19ºC

Denia: 8ºC to 19ºC

Elche: 5ºC to 20ºC

Orihuela: 3ºC to 18ºC

Sunday January 8 is also shaping up to be a cloudy or overcast day with precipitation likely in the north in the morning, and a chance of scattered showers elsewhere in the afternoon. The mercury will continue to rise slightly, more noticeably at night time. West and southwesterly winds will be moderate along the coast with very strong gusts inland.
