ARCHIVED - Lorry bursts into flames on A-7 in Elche
Firefighters fight huge flames for two hours after articulated lorry catches fire in the Baix Vinalopo, Alicante province.
An articulated lorry carrying "non-hazardous" goods burst into flames at kilometre 514 on the A-7 in Elche on Saturday night, July 31.
Thankfully nobody was injured in the huge blaze, which was reported at around 11.45pm, and took more than two hours to extinguish, with a team of five firefighters from Elche station, equipped with three pumps finally getting the fire under control just before 2am.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Last week, an industrial footwear factory in Elche was completely gutted in a blaze which took firefighters six hours to extinguish, days after a multinational Cemex factory in nearby San Vicente del Raspeig was destroyed in a spectacular fire.
