ARCHIVED - Three people and a dog rescued from burning yacht in Denia
Maritime Rescue services in Dénia, Alicante province, evacuated the passengers via helicopter
After a yacht in Dénia caught fire and sank on Friday (August 6), Maritime Rescue services rescued three passengers and a dog from life rafts.
The Maritime Rescue coordination centre in Valencia received a call from a fishing boat, ‘Mediterranium’, alerting them of a fire onboard a yacht and two life rafts in the water at around 1pm.
The authorities in the Marina Alta comarca told the fishing vessel to help the passengers if possible and sent a helicopter and the Salvamar ‘Pollux’ to the location.

Before 2pm, the helicopter reached the scene and found three people and a dog aboard the two life rafts, all of whom were uninjured.
The passengers, including the dog, were evacuated on the helicopter, while Salvamar ‘Pollux’ made sure there was no contamination caused by the sinking yacht and the fishing boat took the life rafts back to port.
